Bios

• Melvin C. Haddad

  DVM

  Dr. Haddad Doc was born and raised in North Carolina. He was the son of Lebanese immigrants. He attended Clemson College and then graduated from the University of Georgia in 1967, with a Degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he entered the Army Veterinary Corps, and received special training as a food inspector. As a captain he served in Vietnam and was the Veterinarian for the 25th Division. He was responsible for food safety, the care and treatment of the scout and security dogs, as well as the combat tracker dog team. Dr. Haddad was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Medic Badge for treating wounded G.I's under hostile conditions, when no other medical personnel were available. Dr. Haddad moved to Boston in 1969 where he met and married Mayrose Kelliher. He worked for Dr. Bruce in Dedham and then at Holbrook Animal Hospital before opening his own veterinary practice in Brockton in 1975. Dr. Haddad and Mrs. Haddad raised two sons, and worked side by side growing the Veterinary Clinic into a successful practice that has served the community for over 30 years. In 1995 Mrs. Haddad passed away after a short battle with breast cancer. Mrs. Haddad's contributions to the practice continue to be missed. In April 2001, Dr. Haddad remarried. His wife Pam is a retired elementary school teacher. They share their home with two Golden Retrievers named Rebel and Macy. They have 3 grandchildren, who are filling their days with love and lots of fun. Dr. Haddad recently attended a memorial dedication for the tracker dogs who served in Vietnam. At the emotional service Dr. Haddad was reunited with two dog handlers who saved his life during a ground attack in Vietnam. To this day, Dr. Haddad continues to support the tracker dogs, and donates cooling vests, goggles and other expensive equipment to ensure that they have the best care available while serving in war. There are days now when Doc thinks about retirement and looks forward to spending his days on the golf course, but for now he remains committed to his patients, clients and his staff.

• Carla Angevine

  DVM

  Dr. Angevine has been an associate veterinarian with our practice since 1994. She graduated from UMass Amherst, with a BS in Animal Science, and then went on to get her DVM from Tufts Veterinary School. Dr. Angevine sees both dogs and cats, but is known as the clinic's go to person for cat related issues. She has a natural affection for kitties, and really enjoys educating new owners about cat health and behavior. Her favorite part of the job is getting to know people and their pets while helping them to get the most out of the relationship they will have for many years to come. Dr. Angevine lives in Hanover with her husband of over 20 years, Bob and their three children. They share their home with four orange cats, Sebastian (aka Mr. B), Tiger, Lemon and Ed. Sebastian is the oldest clocking in at 18 years old! The newest addition, Ed is a blind kitten, who Dr. Angevine adopted after he was found in an abandoned swimming pool.

• James Rodd

  DVM

  Dr. Rodd holds both a Masters Degree from Cornell in Animal Nutrition and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University. He was a member of Tuft's School of Veterinary Medicine's first graduating class. Dr. Rodd joined the staff at NMSVC in 1996. It has been the most rewarding experience of his professional career. The hard work, and dedication showed by Dr. Haddad, as well as the warm and caring staff members at NMSVC are an inspiration. Aside from animals, Dr. Rodd's other passions are travel, history and sports. He has traveled extensively and would like to someday visit Australia and New Zealand. Dr. Rodd is an avid and long suffering fan of the Boston Red Sox. He attended his first game at Fenway Park with his father in 1963. He is a member of the Bosox Club, which is the oldest and only official fan club of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoys watching the Patriots, Celtics and the Boston Bruins.

• Maryanne Sefchuk

  DVM

  Dr. Sefchuk joined the staff at NMSVC after graduating from Tuft's Veterinary School in 1989. As the primary surgeon, she spends most of her time in the surgery suite performing spays, neuters, lumpectomies, dentals and other soft tissue surgeries. Dr. Sefchuk breeds and shows English Bulldogs, and has a large clientele of Bulldog owners who travel far and wide to have their dogs treated by a veterinarian who knows the breed so well. Dr. Sefchuk lives on the south shore, and shares her home with several Bulldogs. She enjoys gardening, cooking and is a big Red Sox and Patriots fan.

• Jonathan Zuker

  DVM

  Dr. Zuker is our newest team member and we are very excited to have him on board. Dr. Zuker grew up in Newburyport and attended UMass Amherst for his undergraduate degree. Veterinary school took him across the country to Western University of Health Sciences in California. After graduating from vet school he worked in a mixed animal practice near Los Angeles for about 2 years. Now back in his home state, Dr. Zuker lives in the Boston area. He shares his home with his girlfriend Megan, and his dogs Chester and Maude. He is a loyal Boston sports fan, and when not watching a game he enjoys traveling and hiking with Megan and the dogs.
